Day 4 was Hong Kong day. If you remember, Hong Kong was Robyn's first out of the country trip last year. However, this was our first time in Hong Kong- just the three of us. I wanted it to be memorable for Robyn because last time, we were able to go to Disneyland and she loved it. This time, since we wouldn't be going to Disneyland, I sitll wanted it to be fun and memorable for her. I also hoped to be able to shop! :D
First on the agenda was swimming! I have planned for us to go swimming because Robyn loves the water. I decided to go swimming this day. Initially I planned it on the 5th day, the high seas day, but I was afraid there'll be a lot of people.
Since we were approaching Hong Kong and Hong Kong was actually pretty cool. I didn't even bother swimming in the pool. I called Robyn and brought her to the jacuzzi instead. It was warm, the perfect temperature if you asked me.
There are 4 jacuzzis in the ship. Luckily we were able to have some solo time in one of the jacuzzis. Much to my delight. :)
Robyn said it looked like we were in a witch's pot. She said we were the ingredients. :)
Other than this pool, there was another kiddie pool at deck 10. However, it was not heated whatsoever. I can't imagine kids swimming there in Hong Kong weather.
There were a coupe of people who used the slide. I thought they were very brave. As much as I was curious about it, I'm too much of a scaredy cat to try it.
As we prepared for lunch, I saw that we were nearing Hong Kong. Their harbor is so postcard worthy!
For lunch, we decided to have western cuisine once again. Before deciding, we checked on the menus of the different restaurants first. They're all posted on deck 7.
We went out of the ship at around 3pm because my daughter and husband took a nap after lunch. I would have wanted to go early because the ship leaves at 11 and we have to be back by 9pm but I knew that it was for the best that Robyn naps first.
Would you believe that our whole Hong Kong daytrip, we just walked? We didn't take any taxis or ride any trains. Yup, we just walked!
She was scared of the bear behind her but I just had to take a photo of her outfit. She looked so darn cute!
One of the main agendas was to go to the Middle Road Children's Playground. It was near East Tsim Sha Tsui station.
I've read about this last year and wanted to go when we first went to Hong Kong with Robyn but since Tsim Sha Tsui wasn't in our itinerary that time, we weren't able to visit.
The playground was kept really clean. It was well maintained. Everything was working and in good condition. I wish I could say the same about our playgrounds here. This was a public playground by the way and it's free.
While Robyn and H play, I was tasked to navigate our next destination. Again, we didn't have internet that time so I had to rely on my notes from my researches and the map I got of Hong Kong.
This is probably one of the best views. The 2 most important people in my life who bring me so much joy.
Because it was already late, we decided to have early dinner before going shopping. My husband loves Roast Goose and that's his only request.
When I researched recommended restaurants that have Roast Goose that were near the area, I chanced upon Guang Dong Barbecue Restaurant. We went to their Cameron Ave branch since we didn't want to go far from the harbor.
We ordered 1/2 order of their Roast Goose. Yes, it was a lot and yes it was expensive. But this was a once in a blue moon thing, so go lang ng go. ;p
Next stop was the Avenue of the Comic Stars. I know Tsim Sha Tsui is known for the Avenue of the Stars, but I believe it was still under renovation when we went. Also, we didn't know much Hong Kong actors so we decided to skip it and just go to the Comic Stars instead.
Because even though we didn't know the characters, Robyn enjoyed seeing cartoons. :)
I actually had another agenda and it was to see Lao Hu Tzi. I used to read his comics when I was younger. I remember my mom and grandpa's old office and there were Lao Hu Tzi comics. I couldn't read the Chinese words but just seeing the photos, I was able to understand the humor.
And just look at my little Robyn!
We went to go shopping at Sasa and Bossini and then headed to Temple Street Night Market after that. We were hoping to find more good deals but ended up with just a few pasalubong. It was not worth going. I felt like we should have went to somewhere else and it was a waste of time. :(
Then it was time to go back to the ship. I think that's what sucks is that it always feels like we're running because of the time limit since we need to go back to the ship. It always felt like we had only half a day to do anything in that country.
After our supper, we went to deck 13 where we could gaze and enjoy the view of Hong Kong. We were going back to Manila after so this was the last hurrah.
