I am a certified Tita of Manila. I have been for years now. If you didn't know I'm actually already 31 years old and I manage our house which means I am in charge of everything and anything. Since I am the one who cooks our family meals, I try to plan our meals ahead of time. And normally, I would cook meals that are good for 2 days, meaning dinner that night and leftover lunch the next day. So food storage is something that I use every single day.
And now that Christmas is just a few days away, I know that a lot of you will be throwing parties or going to parties and there will be lots and lots of left over food. I, for one, don't mind and actually appreciate it when the host wraps us up a doggie bag for us to bring home. Like what I said, I'm the one who cooks, and if I could cook 1 less meal, I'll take it. After endless disposable containers and aluminum foils, I've decided to upgrade our food storage and just invest on glass containers instead of those cheap plastic ones.
I have different brands in my cupboard but one that I was so ecstatic to acquire was Pro Glass 10pc Glass Set from True Value. Honestly, there was nothing special about it but the price. Retail price was P1,300.00 but I got it on 50% sale! Yes, I only paid for P650.00 for this set. What a steal!
This set comes with 5 glass containers with their corresponding lids. Don't be confused since it says 10 pieces. :) I like that it came in different sizes!
As compared to the other glass containers that I already have, this set is oven safe. I learned this just recently. There are so many different brands and kinds of glass containers and glass storage sets but not all of them are oven safe, some are only freezer and microwave safe. So don't forget to read the labels and also ask the sales associate.
I LIKE:
- It's available at True Value!
- It comes in different sizes, perfect for left overs
- The glass is clear enough that you can see what is inside.
- The price is insane! P650.00 for 5 glass storage containers that's oven and microwave safe.
- The seals can easily be removed and washed too as sometimes there's water build up that may tend to get moldy.
I DON'T LIKE:
- One of the locks of one of the rectangle containers is faulty. I can't seem to lock it properly. Tried removing the air out, repositioning it so many times, but to no avail. :(
- Comes in only 1 color. If you like color coding your food storage containers, this may be an issue.
Also, did you know that glass containers are healthier and better than plastic ones? You're more assured that no toxins or chemicals go to your food when you heat it inside the containers. It's also easier to clean as the oil doesn't stick to glass as compared to plastic ones. Best of all, no smell! You know how you can still smell your Adobo sauce when you open your plastic containers? With glass containers, you get rid of every bit of dirt and smell when you wash them. ;)
Now that Christmas is coming, it's time to make the switch and use reusable containers instead of disposable ones for your left overs. Invest in glass food storage containers such as Pro Glass' because you can definitely use it over and over again. Talk about a gift that keeps on giving. :)
