Summer has officially begun and that means smaller, shorter and thinner pieces of clothing. With that said, our skin is more exposed to the sun. As you know, we always have to take care of our skin but for the summer, I advise you take better care to enjoy grorgeous looking skin the whole year round.
Here are some of the things that I do that might help you this summer as well:
Upon waking up, I take a shower and I don't forget to cleanse my face and tone it. I have always believed that washing alone isn't enough. During the day, it's so important to keep hydrated. I know for a fact that during summer, people tend to sweat more easily and because of this, we loose water in our system. So I always bring a bottle of water wherever I go to replenish what I lost from sweating. As many of you have heard, drink at least 8-10 glasses a day.
Just like our system looses water, our skin also looses moisture because of the heat. You probably have noticed the change in your skin texture when the climate changed. Moreover, your skin color. To protect my eyes and also my face from the sun, I trust my handy sunglasses. They help filter light and they protect against the damaging rays of the sun. Also, they're pretty stylish too! Try to look for lenses that block 100 percent of UV rays.
If you want to somehow block the sun from hurting the rest of your body, bring an umbrella! I have this pretty old foldable umbrella that I bring in my car or my bag. I've held on to this for years because there was a study in the U.S. that black umbrellas actually perform better in blocking ultraviolet rays.
Lastly, exfoliate the skin. I exfoliate once to twice a week. And everytime I do, my skin feels amazingly soft. As we get older, our skin’s natural ability to shed dead skin cells slows down so we actually help our skin when we exfoliate. If you have acne prone skin, buffing the dead skin away will actually help unclog the pores. I also find that it helps serums, creams and lotions penetrate and adhere to the skin better.
