For the Love of Juicing

Cheers to the freakin' weekend, I'll drink to that!

As you may have noticed in my Instagram (If you haven't followed me yet, it's @yellowyum), I started juicing. Before you say anything, let me put a disclaimer right now. I don't "juice" because I want to lose weight (athough it wouldn't hurt to shed a few pounds along the way). I am exclusively breastfeeding my baby so I cannot substitute my meals with a green juice. I drink it as a supplement or as snack.


 There are a lot of reasons I started juicing:
  • I don't eat vegetables and fruits as often as needed.
  • Aside from myself, I know that my baby needs the nutrients from fruits and vegetables.
  • I have been feeling sluggish and tired lately.
  • My skin has become a little dryer than usual.
  • I tend to eat a lot of junkfood as snacks, and this is the healthier choice.

I received a Jack La Lanne Power Juicer as a gift from my MIL last year and honestly, I didn't think I'd be using it. My husband and I are both meat eaters and we rarely have any vegetable at home. I was also lazy to wash all the parts of the juicer so it took me a year before unboxing it and actually using it.



The juicer is quite easy to use and assemble. It's also easy to clean too. It's not THAT noisy, just like a softer vacuum. It doesn't bother me and it doesn't wake my baby up in the other room.

Here are some recipes that I've already tried. I haven't started looking up recipes just yet. These are just some of my experiments. My favorite would have to be the first juice I made. (Photo and recipe above.)




Like what I mentioned, I don't do juice fasting. It's pretty obvious I can't do it. First of all, I love eating too much. Second, I'm breastfeeding my baby meaning I can't just remove food because my milk will definitely suffer. I simply add this to my daily diet.

I eat 2 full meals a day. I know this isn't what's best but it's the best thing I can do for now. I have my brunch and then I snack on my green juice and then have dinner. Before, I would usually snack on junk food because I don't have time to prepare any proper snack as I am hands on with my daughter. Now, I decided to opt for something healthier like green juice. Plus I've been feeling so sluggish lately and I needed a healthy alternative for a boost of energy.

I also want to give a shout out to Jheng. She started posting her juices and I got inspired to finally give this a try! I do hope I can keep up with it, because I still dislike washing all the parts. But it's a small sacrifice for a greater result!
