First Look: Maybelline Clear Smooth Shine Free Blush in Fresh Berry

Hey everyone, I'm back. I have been feeling exhausted lately. Just been doing a lot, most recently worked on a wedding this Sunday. I'll try to post some photos of my work in my portfolio (http://charlenetanmakeup.tumblr.com)

I personally haven't been wearing too much makeup. I find that I don't have enough time to even do my makeup. Haha! But here's one of the products that I have been grabbing because of the quality!

I got the Maybelline Clear Smooth Shine Free Blush in Fresh Berry from the I Love Beauty Series of Studio SnR that I attended a couple of months back. I actually own 2 Clear Smooth blushes already and actually fell in love with them. So when I saw this in my loot, I was super excited.

Compared to the other blushes that I have, Fresh Berry looks a little bit scary in the pan. It looks like a red violet highly pigmented color. For newbies, this color may look very intimidating. I admit it looks pretty bold.

The color is matte which is perfect anytime. I have always loved matte blushes. It can go with just about anything and I can use it the whole year round! Fresh Berry is indeed very pigmented so a little goes a long way and it's important to tap the brush before sweeping it on the face.

Here are some swatches:

I also enjoy wearing this when I'm fresh faced, not much makeup, no eyeshadows. It's a perfect pop of color! I honestly love this blush! I feel like it gives my face a healthy glow too. :) I actually used this in one of my tutorials with very neutral eye makeup. Well, I'll post photos soon. :)

I wonder if you own any scary looking blushes too? :p Care to share?

I will also be linking to these videos for my future tutorials just so I can already skip these steps.

So for this video, I will be showing you how I do my concealing and foundation routine. Yes, just that. So please ignore the pale skin and unruly eyebrows. I'll be working on those next. :)

Travel Vlog: Bangkok, Thailand

Happy Tuesday everyone! I just realized it's almost a month since my Bangkok trip and I haven't blogged it here yet. So here it is! We went to Bangkok, Thailand last May and even though it wasn't my first time in the country, it was my first time to try and vlog what we do, where we go and what we eat. What you see is not even close to what Bangkok has to offer! So if you love food or enjoy shopping, visit Bangkok!

Let me just say I LOVE Terminal 21! I could stay there the entire day. The design of the place, the themes, it's all well thought of! Oh and luckily, there was a Food Expo when we went to Bangkok. So during our last day, we decided to visit the expo also. It was HUGE!!!

DAY 1: Terminal 21 Mall - May 18 & 19, 2012

DAY 2: Chatuchak & JJ Mall - May 20, 2012

DAY 3: Sukishi Buffet - May 21, 2012

DAY 4: Thai Food & Makeup Kit - May 22, 2012

DAY 5: Food Expo - May 23, 2012

Hope you enjoyed my little trip and vlogs! :D

I Got Naked!

Hello friends, can I just share I have been enjoying being a new domesticated diva, I kid I kid. But seriously, I am really enjoying fixing our home, learning how to cook and all the domesticated stuff that comes with being a home maker. I just love seeing my husband chow down the meals that I cook for him and when he tells me that he likes coming home to a home cooked meal and seeing that I took care of our home. Well that's also why I haven't been able to blog a lot. I've been busy researching and studying different recipes. Do you have any? Do share with me! :)

Enough personal stuff, and let's get down to business shall we? This is a First Look post!

Like what the title says, I got Naked! No not naked- without clothes. But Naked as in Urban Decay Naked Palette! Wee! :) I bought this when I went to Bangkok this summer and I was surprised that they were selling the 1st edition still, because the Naked 2 is already out.

I really decided to get Naked 1 because I read several reviews saying that the color combination of Naked 1 is better compared to Naked 2. Plus you get shimmery and matte colors in this palette unlike in Naked 2, they all have shimmer.

The Naked Palette came with a travel size Urban Decay Primer Potion. It's actually my favorite eyeshadow primer! And this is the first time I get to have a travel size of it since I normally get the regular tube.

Now on to the palette. I was already super excited that I actually used it right away when I got back to Manila without taking a photo of it first. Whoops!

Here are some closer shots of the eyeshadows:

It also came with the Karma Eyeshadow Brush. Although I would have wanted to get the 24/7 liner instead. I know that the first batches of Naked 1, it included an eyeliner instead of a brush. But no biggie! :p

What can I say? If you're into neutrals and smokey looks, this is a great palette to have! It's got good color selection, the eyeshadows are creamy. Small amount is enough. I am in love! I have already recorded a tutorial using this palette, so hold on to your seats, subscribe to my channel and stay tuned for that! :)

Reviews on Products I Used for P500 Makeup Challenge

First of all, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all DADS and EXPECTANT DADS! :) You are our true heroes! Thank you for the unconditional love, for providing for us and for all the guidance!

Moving on to my post today, I hope you have seen my P500 Makeup Challenge. Let's just say it was really challenging to find amazing quality products with a budget of P500 for everything. It was challenging but I'm glad I succeeded. Haha!

Here is my initial reaction and review on the products that I used for the challenge:

I have blogged about it and expressed my initial reaction and I must say, I am impressed. It's actually very affordable yet it does it's job really well. It's got full coverage and I can use it for my undereye, blemishes and on my redness.

Careline Oil Control Face Powder Refill in Honey - P55.00
First of all, the color does not match my skin tone. I was given this by the sales lady. I actually chose the powder that's a shade darker but she insisted that this is better for me as I have acidic skin. Since I was already in a hurry, I didn't want to argue anymore and just decided to trust her. Well well well, surprise surprise, I look so white! I actually look as white as my sister. Haha! (My sister is soooo white, she's like Snow White actually.) Moving on, not considering the color, it doesn't blend well. I used a powder brush and I had such a hard time blending it on my skin. I am not sure what the result will be if I used a puff instead.

Ever Bilena Eyebrow Pencil in Brown - P68.00
I like this eyebrow pencil a lot! I am not used to using eyebrow pencils and would still gravitate towards eyebrow powders. But if I was to use an eyebrow pencil, this is it! It's quite creamy so what I do is apply a small amount of product and then blend and spread it with an angeled/eyebrow brush. Another tip is to store it in the chiller to make it less creamy and easier to apply.

Nichido Makeup Collection - P100.00 (Watsons)
The reason why I got this palette is because of the price. It was only P100 and it already came with a liquid eyeliner. I actually have a single eyeshadow (Bronze Eclair) and I love it to bits so I figured if it had the same quality, then it's worth it! It's such a bargain actually! When I used it, I learned that the 8 eyeshadows weren't the same formula as the single ones. It was powdery, not pigmented. I had to apply it several times so that they colors will show. No no for eyeshadows! However, since it also came with 2 blushes, I decided to use the blush as well. And thank goodness, it was pigmented. A little goes a long way and it's the same feel as the single eyeshadow that I have.

Nichido Liquid Eyeliner - FREE with the Nichido Makeup Collection
I was thrilled when I saw that the Nichido Makeup Collection had a free liquid eyeliner. At least that's one thing off of my list. Little did I know that it will be the worst product. :( It stung my eyes so bad that I actually started crying. Obviously, I decided to cut that out of the tutorial. It also smudged on the inner part of my eyes. Bottom line, it hurt me so I don't recommend it. :p

BOB Ultra Curl Mascara - THB59.00 or P85.55 (Bangkok)
I bought this mascara last year together with my 688 Mascara. My first reaction is I really like the wand. It's very flexible, it bends everywhere. Haha! But the consistency is very wet. I've already tried using it once more and I feel like because it's too wet, it weighs down my lashes. Still have to test it more. But so far it does give good volume but does not curl my lashes.

No surprise here! I like my Careline lip glosses. What just sucks that it cracks on the center of my lips. I wasn't able to put on any lip balm prior to filming since I will exceed my P500 limit. But I found that when I apply lip balm first and then put on the lip gloss, it reduced cracking. Aside from that, I really like the consistency and also how pigmented and opaque the color is. Great color payoff!

I hope you liked the tag! And hopefully these initial reviews give you a little bit of information on them before purchasing. As always, I never equate price to quality; so always do your research. :)

Titania Soft Touch Press Launch

We usually take care of our skin because we know that that's the first thing people look at. But actualy aside from our skin, people notice the most used and can I say "abused?" part of our body, our hands and feet. I am a nail salon goer. I usually have my regular mani pedi and cleaning. I always mess up when I try to do it myself. I've always thought that I just suck at it or maybe I just didn't have the right tools?

I was invited to the launch of Titania's new line, Soft Touch. If you're not familiar with Titania, well you're about to find out!

The place was packed with excited media because they were treated to an on-the-spot cleaning and foot massage. We were asked to choose between the two and I personally chose cleaning.

When it was time to take a seat and enjoy out food. I realized that their food was German inspired too. Obviously because Titania is made in Germany.

The host that day was none other than Mia of Magic 89.9.She's one of my most favorite DJs. So it was so great hearing her host live! I guess I don't have yo say it anymore but of course, she did great!

Ms. Jonnie Ong gave us a brief history of Titania.

German brand Titania is the leading European manufacturer of hand, foor and nail care implements. It recentlu launched the Soft Touch line for women and its state-of-the-art products include the nail cutter, cuticle nipper, corn cutter, cuticle cutter and pusher, and four different kinds of foot files to suit one's needs.
Titania's Soft Touch products are all made with a unique coating, which achieves a non-slip grip. At the same time, they are all ergonomically shaped, making it easier to use even on hard-to-reach spots.

John Robert Powers (JRP) was also there to talk about proper usage of Titania tools and why it's important to have clean fingernails and well groomed feet. I personally feel strongly about it because I feel like cleaning and taking care of one's hands and feet also rejuvenates our mind and our senses. And with nice nails and toenails, it somehow shows that you have a good character.

We also learned a lot from the demo that they did in front too.

Bianca Roque was introduced as Titania's fitting brand ambassador. Bianca is a celebrity VJ, host and endorser. She has always been someone that I admire. Her hosting skills- perfection! She was so down to earth too. I first met her last year at an event she hosted.

She explains that real beauty manifests in how one carries herself and is not only about being pretty on the outside. And because she is always in front of the camera, her overall appearance is very important.

"In my line of work, appearance and self-confidence is essential, but what is also important is the proper care of my feet which takes me around, and my hands and nails which are always near the microphone, making them my most visible accessory. After all, healthy, fresh, soft hands and feet say a lot about a person," she muses.

I feel like Titania chose the perfect brand ambassador. Her views about beauty, fitness and health fits the vision of Titania. Bianca is gorgeous, sweet and she takes good care of her inner and outer beauty. Something that every woman should do.

I was able to talk to DJ Mia and Bianca and ask what their beauty secrets are:

Got to bring home these goodies!

And finally, here's a FOTD. I wasn't able to take any other photos of myself though. Boo me. Haha! :p

For more information about Titania's Soft Touch and Bianca's updates as its first and only female Philippine brand ambassador, like them on facebook and follow on twitter! The Soft Touch line is already available in all leading department stores nationwide.
