Maybelline BB Cream

As per my First Look post on Maybelline BB Cream, I’ve been using it since the day I got it. So I guess it’s high time to review it.

Obviously, I’m not one who’s particular with packaging but the packaging of Maybelline’s BB Cream is very convenient. It’s not very big, not bulky at all. And because it’s a tube type of packaging, it’s so easy to use.

For the quality, I actually was a little scared to use it at first because from my research, some BB creams turn gray and darken after a couple of hours. And since  I’m acidic and my makeup really does darken, the thought of using another layer of product that would make my entire face turn gray scared me. But since I wanted to try it and give you my two cents, I decided to go ahead and use it.

Happily, my makeup stayed its color. Still darkened a little because I’m acidic, but not to the point of me looking like ash. Haha! Basically, I looked normal. It surprised me that I was starting to love this product.

I also felt that my makeup goes smoothly over the BB cream. I haven’t tried other BB cream brands so I cannot give a comparison, but Maybelline’s BB cream made my skin more radiant. I would use it and set it with loose powder, and my skin looks nice. It makes my entire face look smoother and helps even out my skin tone.

Using BB Cream topped with loose powder only

As for coverage, like I mentioned before, it doesn’t do much. Even though it’s already an all in one foundation/moisturizer, I still feel like it gives light coverage. So I would recommend putting powder foundation on top if you really need more coverage.

I loved using the product and I still am using it until now. Although it has only one shade, it blends to the natural skin tone. It’s not mattifying enough for me, so a mattifying product is still needed. However, for those with dry or normal skin, I would say this will suffice.

I give it two thumbs up and I am definitely getting myself another tube after I finish this! :) Did I mention, it’s so affordable? It really is a great deal! And a product coming from Maybelline, you’re sure you’ll get your money’s worth and more.

Sumo Sam

Japanese food is my favorite cuisine of all time! I love love Japanese food and as some of you may already know, my favorite Japanese restaurant is Omakase. Omakase is LOVE! :)

Craving for Japanese, I went out with my super friend Eric the other day. We went to Shangrila Plaza and he suggested Sumo Sam. One not-so-expensive-not-so-cheap restaurant. And since I was already starving, it was almost 3pm and I haven’t eaten lunch at that time yet, I said yes.

I have already eaten in Sumo Sam before, with H. I think we’ve already dined here twice and I remember thinking the restau is quite pricey.

Well let me share with you what we had:

 Red Iced Tea P98.00

Their iced tea is bottomless, so of course I got one for myself. Ya’ll know how much I love bottomless drinks. Though I’d say the price is quite steep. Normally, it’s around P60-80 for bottomless drinks.

Las Vegas Roll P248.00

Eric ordered this dish and I got to taste a piece. The thing on top is cheese!!! Yumyumyum! It’s a very delicious maki mainly because of the overflowing cheese.
  Tori Chizu Roll P208.00

Super delicious! It’s chicken, there’s cheese, carrots and ham on the inside. :)

Now, on to my order. I was very very hungry when I got to the restaurant because I haven’t had lunch and it was almost 3pm, so I have decided to order their Chicken Combo – P478.00.

The combo includes the ff:

California Maki

Miso Soup
  Side Salad

Fried Rice

Chicken Teriyaki
and I chose Ebi Tempura for the side dish

I super super love this combo and it’s so filling! I was so full after eating. All my dishes were very delicious. I think the combo would actually feed two people. Because I was really really stuffed after eating everything. Haha! :)

The interiors of Sumo Sam is quite nice, modern Japanese theme. The waiters looked very modern with their highlights and the whole restaurant’s clean. The food in Sumo Sam is very good, but they’re a little expensive. I don’t eat here very often because they’re pricey but now that I learned that they have combo meals, I might go back for those and share the combo with H or a friend. :)

Have you eaten here? Any favorites? :)

First Look: Maybelline BB Cream

firstlook

Here’s a new section in my blog called First Look. It’s my first impression on a product, right before I start roadtesting a product or while testing and reviewing a product. I will, of course, continue testing the product and of course give updates on it too.

I have been hearing a lot about BB Creams recently and I have to admit that it made me really curious that I researched different types of BB Creams. According to my research, it helps perfect the skin before application of makeup. It’s a sun block, moisturizer and makeup base in one.

Well, I don’t have much problems with my skin, however, I actually started getting some rashes just recently and have already consulted a dermatologist. It actually made me panic a little because my rashes started in my tummy and spread on my back and after a few days, it started getting worse and now I have rashes on my neck. It made me a little scared because I kept thinking it would also start spreading on my face. :/

The BB cream doesn’t really help treat rashes but anyways, I thought that since BB creams are advisable to people who have problematic skin, maybe this is a good time to do a post about my Maybelline BB Cream.

This all-in-one product is a moisturizer, sun block and foundation. It contains 8 healthy minerals for 8 healthy skin results, giving you flawless skin in an instant!

The 8 healthy minerals are: copper, zinc, magnesium, sodium, titanium and 3 iron oxides.

Maybelline says:
Moisturizes like skin care- oil-free formula keeps skin hydrated for up to 24 hours.
Protects like sun block- SPF26/PA++ protects against harmful UVA and UVB rays.
Covers like a foundation- hides flaws and imperfections without feeling heavy on the skin.

I have been using this BB cream for a few days now and so far so good. It has only one shade but it is easily absorbed by the skin. Plus it actually blends nicely on the skin. However, it gives light coverage.

Swatch

Blended

What I’ve noticed since the time that I used it is that it gives smooth coverage and helps even out my skin tone. I still use my powder foundation if I need coverage but the foundation especially looks more radiant. I will be showing a photo of myself using the Maybelline BB Cream next time and I’ll update you on what happens or improvements I see. But so far, it proves to be a good and healthy alternative to “just moisturizers”. I apply the BB Cream on top of my Skin Hour Mattifying Day Cream.

Makeup Shopping for Foundation

I struggled what to use as title because first, I wanted to say personal shopping because it’s like the people you hire to shop for you since I was actually shopping for my aunt. However, “personal shopping” also sounds like shopping for myself. So I decided to go with makeup shopping.

Anyways, I helped Aunt B shop for her makeup stash. One of which was to find her a perfect liquid foundation. I asked her to join me because I wanted to swatch different shades on her to find the correct and perfect shade. It’s not easy to decide on a shade without testing it.

I had three dept store  brands in mind. I’m curious about two of them since I haven’t tried them yet and I thought they’re worth giving a try and the other I have already used before. I asked Aunt B to choose two so we can test them on her.

So first stop, we went to Foundie Brand #1 and asked the SA to apply the product on one side of the face. Foundie Brand #1 was applied on the left side of her face.

Next, we went to another brand, Foundie Brand #2 and again, I asked the SA to apply the foundation to the other side of her face. It was applied on the right side of her face.

Aunt B noticed that Foundie Brand #1 felt lighter on the face but started caking up. I told her that one reason may be because the SAs did not set the foundation with powder. So I set it myself. I set her entire face with pressed powder and I told her that we should go shop for other stuff first so that the makeup will set and be absorbed by the skin. We’ll also get to see how the shade would look like after it oxidizes. This is a great tip to people who would want to find the perfect shade of foundation.

While shopping, Aunt B says that Foundie Brand #1 feels very light like she’s not wearing any makeup at all, while Foundie Brand #2, even though it didn’t feel too heavy, she still feels like she is wearing makeup. The coverage when you see her in person looks the same. Both foundie brands are buildable.

After an hour, I told Aunt B that I will take a photo of her. This is to show us how the makeup would look in photo. Because when we all look at her, it looks the same.

Zoom in to see the difference

It shows in the photo that the left side of her face looks better than the right. It’s more glowing, more radiant. For me, it looks healthier. Both foundation shades fit her skin tone really well but Foundie Brand #1 looks really really good on her.

Ready to find out what brand it is? It is Max Factor Xperience Foundation.

Beautiful flawless skin – doesn't that mean a thick, full coverage foundation? Not with our new Xperience Weightless Foundation. Its formula contains natural jojoba extract, gives flawless coverage with a surprisingly air - light feel.

I personally haven’t tried this yet but it looks so promising and after seeing what it did to Aunt B, I can’t wait to try it too! Has anyone tried this foundation already? Did it make your face that glowing too?

Maybelline Stiletto Run

Onto the main event! I was asked so many times if I was going to run as well since I was wearing stilettos too. I nicely declined the offer because of the following:
1. I was wearing faulty stilettos. I was afraid that I will trip.
2. I had to cover the event and I wanted to take the snaps.
3. I was scared that I’ll fall. :/

So yes, I ended up sitting this one out. But a lot of women joined! In store was P10,000 worth of Maybelline products plus a P10,000 shopping spree in Robinsons Department Store.

Here are the women who braved the marathon:

It was no easy fight. It was about 200+ meters long. Marj and Kris Mae actually checked out the red carpert and checked how long the “race track” was and told me it was definitely LONG.

When the race was about to start, I honestly felt the chills and adrenaline. I was so pumped that I started cheering for no one in particular. Haha! People were screaming and the ladies were actually “in it to win it”.

See how excited they are?

Anyways, I thought that it would take them quite awhile to finish the race, but I saw the media people running toward the finish line so when I followed, I was so surprised that the people were screaming “ayan na, parating na.” And it was just about a minute or even less than a minute!

So finally, the first winner came and fell right as she crosses the finish line and the second one came close and fell right on top of her. Talk about a "sweep" victory.

Of course, the Maybelline team were there to catch and help the girls out. The girls said that they were okay and they were still all smiles. Probably because they knew they won the race. ;)

When it was time to announce the winners, people gathered to the stage and got excited to see  who the winners are.

But first, they announced the special prizes:

Marj Sia won Most Stylish Stilettos

Sarah Santiago for the Highest Stilettos
She wore 5.5 inch stilettos!

Denny Rose Afinidad fot the Most Stunning Outfit

They also awarded the Biggest Barkada

And here are the three ladies who strutted, graced and ran the race successfully!

2nd Runner Up- Racquel Perez

1st Runner Up- Racquel Polvoroza

 Winner- Joanna Joy Cardinez

  Congratulations girls!
You truly deserve it.

Was able to take photos of these two lovely ladies who won special prizes!

The event was a success and it was so fun to watch. I’m sure the girls also had lots of laughs too. It’s a new activity, a new race. And it just makes us love our stilettos even more!

And I am so excited to try my Long Extreme Stiletto Mascara. I am a big lash person and I love anything eyelash related. So if it gives the same effect what my stilettos do for my legs, it’s definitely going to give me long, sexy and flirty lashes! I lalalalove it! :)
