Benett Joyce Nails & Spa

One of my favorite things in the world is massages. And I share the same interest with my MIL. In our home, we have 2 massage beds, 2 massage chairs and an unlimited number of  massage and heating pads. Haha! But we both agree that having a masseuse is still the best.

When I was contacted for a massage and body scrub with masque home service, it was actually a great timing as our home service masseuse just recently told me that she might be going abroad next month. I sure was very sad and I knew I needed some pampering.

BENETT JOYCE HOME SERVICE NAILS AND SPA is a premier quality spa and a sanctuary of relaxation and renewal.

We offer an essential union of luxurious therapies infused with the intimacy and comfort of your own home. We invite you to discover the haven of restoration that your home can become.

Designed for pure relaxation and pampering, we offer a range of treatments from an extensive menu including massages, hand and foot care, as well as body treatments for skin whitening and anti aging using pure natural ingredients. We also help organize special events, parties and many different celebrations. Our goal is to keep you and your friends together

Yhobie came to our home wearing a blue terno/scrubs and c0omplete with all spa essentials. She was right on time. Benett Joyce Nails & Spa accepts reservation from 2pm to 12mn.

I escorted her and the driver to the room and they immediately setup. I saw photos of their set up thru their website and I would say that’s their main difference from other home service massages. They really bring the spa experience to the comfort of your home.

Please ignore the messy things in the room. Hehe!

I personally appreciate the little details Benett Joyce Nails & Spa puts into their services. Little things like these do make a difference for spa enthusiasts such as myself.

My most favorite detail is the music they bring. Yhobie brought out her small radio and after setting up she played an instrumental cd. It made me even more relaxed.

They also bring their own massage beds. Although according to Yhobie, you have to request for it. She told me that some clients prefer to not use the massage beds.

We started with my scrub and masque. I chose Green Tea Whitening Sugar Glow Body Polish. I loved the smell of green tea. Their green tea had a hint of peppermint so it smelled cool as well.

  Clockwise: Cleanser, Butter, Masque, Scrub

Before starting, Yhobie put plastic for my wrap later on.

She started by dry brushing my body. It felt really nice, a little tickly. This was to open the pores and scrub the dead skin a little. Then she scrubbed my body with the green tea scrub. I would guess that the scrub used is epsom salt, because it’s not as fine as dead sea salt but it did n0t hurt my skin very much. While scrubbing, the aroma of green tea and the music made me even more relaxed and calm. She continued with spreading the masque all over my body.  I actually didn’t see how the masque looked like because at this point I have already dozed off. It was soooo relaxing, I couldn’t keep my eyes open.

Platic wrapped Char

She kept me wrapped for a few minutes and let me nap for a while. And she gently tapped my shoulder and asked me to shower before continuing the massage.

Happy! :)

When I showered, I saw the masque. It was just a thin layer of something like a clay pack. And when I showered, it was instantly removed. Didn’t take much effort on my part to scrub it.

When I went back to the room, Yhobie has already fixed the things she needed and no longer needed. She already kept the plastic wrap and just left the body butter and I asked to add Grapefruit massage oil. Surprisingly, grapefruit and green tea smell alike. And I love massage oils! I always prefer massage oils than lotions.

And then it was time for my massage. I got combination for my massage.  It was for 1 hour. She started with my legs and feet going to my back. She used a kneading technique (use of forearm and elbow). I dozed off when she massaged my arms and head. I’m a big reflex girl and that’s my most favorite. Yhobie had a good technique, the sequence was good.

Since their theme was the beach, sand and seashells, I would have wanted to hear the sound of waves splashing or wind blowing. I think that would be nice also. The massage bed was okay, very sturdy but it doesn’t have a hole in it. I personally don’t mind but others would maybe want that.

Overall, the experience was very very good. They finished right on time and I wanted more. The massage quality was really good as well as the body scrub. I liked the dry brushing part to be honest. It was relaxing, very calming. I love all the detail that Benett Joyce put into. I didn’t have to bring or prepare anything because they are complete and they bring everything that they need. It was indeed my own personal spa.

Here’s their price list:

They are currently looking for a space for their spa. If you would like to suggest any location, please do so and I’d be glad to forward it to them.

Bare It All Fashion Show

I was invited last Wednesday to attend Laybare’s 5th anniversary and first fashion show, Bare It All. And as you know, I’m an avid fan of waxing and I’m a  regular client of Laybare. So I was very excited to go to this show and have a sexy night out!

Before heading to the fashion show, H and I watched I Am Number 4. It’s a pretty good movie and I enjoyed it. I didn’t want it to end and when it did, my jaw dropped and I could not believe it. Talk about a cliffhanger!

We also had dinner at CPK and was pleasantly surprised that HSBC had a promo and we got this dish for free.

I love my HSBC!

Now on to the fashion show. It was a short fashion show. The models’ bodies were painted and wore clothes next to nothing! Talk about beautiful ladies, Ms. Isabel Roces hosted the event along with Ms. Ornussa Cadness.

Another celebrity in attendance is Aljur Abrenica.

I was supposed to take a photo with me but girls were lining up and his bodyguard finally signaled he had to go.

Okay fine, you’re pretty hot.

And when the show finished it was time for some photo-ops!

Here are Monique and Fiona Hilario
owners of Laybare

Wasn’t able to talk to them because as soon as the show ended, interviewers were everywhere.

  Dare to expose!
Also met up with blogger Kira.
I have no idea why I look so tan!

I look like a giant because of my shoes!

Long blouse/dress- Forever 21
Leggings- ShopSui
Pumps- Alberto (It was about 4 inches high! Wow!)
Accessories- ShopSui

With Angelle, Lynda and Kira

I also accompanied Kira to dinner since she hasn’t eaten yet. :) We went to TGIF just across Hard Rock.

And when I got home, even though I already looked tired and haggard, I took a photo of my wavy hair (thanks to Babyliss curling iron) and the chocolate souvenir from the event!

Modern Academy of Image, Culture and Arts

I was invited to visit Modern Academy last Friday and meet up with one of the owners and the PR Director, Ms. Celine Gabriel-Lim. I went to MAICA very excited for schools such as this is very close to my heart.

While chatting with Ace, Teri and Celine, they discussed how the school started, the courses they offer and they explained how MAICA was born because of the need for a place that will help improve and hone certain skills that a person might need to succeed.

I looked at myself and remembered how difficult is was for me when I was working in a multi-national company. I felt like I didn’t belong with the people I work with. They were all brilliant, book smart, “put together” and I didn’t know if I was one of them. One of my responsibilities was meeting with top management, people from other divisions and even expats. I remember everytime I was in a meeting with them, I would be so nervous even to talk to them for the fear of looking not-so-smart. That time I thought that it was just because I’m new at what I was doing, but come to think of it, maybe if I had better communication skills, I would have been more confident and prepared to talk to my superiors.

Another instance was meeting with my in laws when H and I weren’t married yet. Presenting one’s self is very crucial and presenting one’s self to future in-laws is quite nerve-wracking. I always made sure to think about each word that comes out from my mouth, making sure that I didn’t sound too strong nor too timid. I was very concerned with the clothes I wore. It was pure pressure especially the first few visits. But if I was taught proper etiquette and I had good presentations skills, maybe I wouldn’t be as petrified.

Thing is during those times, there was no venue to learn these things. Nothing that help and teach empowerment. This is where Modern Academy comes in. They are not just enhancing what’s outside but as well as in.

MAICA offers courses that help a person not just in work but even in their personal lives. Like what Celine told us, we present ourselves everyday and when we talk, we want people not only to hear us- but to listen to us.

I’m very impressed with the courses they offer. Seems like they thought of everyone- students, employees, even parents. How many times have you tried explaining to your kids that some things or experiences are bad but they don’t listen? Perhaps it’s because the way you expressed yourself isn’t that effective or believable. MAICA helps us with these things.

They offer core programs that help you with your personal and corporate life. Essential skills which are shorter courses. (They really thought of everyone.) These are more specific courses and run for a few sessions only. They also added special interests too.

FLYER_all courses (Click to enlarge)

Go ahead and take a pick! I personally  am very interested with Professional Blogging and Online Branding & Reputation Management to improve my blogging style. I know there’s so many things I have yet to learn. And did I mention the instructor for these is none other than, my favorite, Mr. Anton Diaz of Ourawesomeplanet?

I also have my eye on Basic Photoshop and Bridal Makeup for Professional Artists. These are for my professional side, learning more about my craft. The instructors no doubt are credible and know the ins and outs of the topics. They are from Pinoy Photography Organization and Maquillage Professional (MAICA’s partner for makeup artistry courses.) MAICA has chosen and invested in their instructors very well.

They are now currently accepting enrollees for Basic Photography on March 8, 10, 15 (P4,550) which will be taught by the Pinoy Photography Organization and Blogging: Writing for Online on March 8, 2011 (P3,800), taught by Mr. Anton Diaz of Ourawesomeplanet.

And they have a promo! Their current promotion that is the Photography Bundle Up promo where you can avail of two courses for only P7,500.

New Purchase: Shine Moist Frizz Shine Spray

Here’s a first look on my new Shine Moist Frizz Shine Spray. Since I use a hair dryer, flat iron and a curling iron, I thought maybe it’s high time for me to purchase a heat protectant spray for my hair. Actually I don’t use my hair equipment that often, I rarely do. But on those occasions, I want to make sure that my hair is protected.

So finally when H and I went to SM Megamall, I dropped by the department store to find me a good product. When I asked the SA, she recommended this new product called Shine Moist.

It actually says for permed and damaged hair. I still got it even though my hair isn’t permed nor is it damaged, just cause I want to try it out.

Shine Moist Frizz Shine Spray is a leave-on conditioning spray that texturizes dry, permed, colored and relaxed hair. This porosity equalizer is designed to fill porous parts of the hair with keratin for more balanced chemical processing when used during perming, coloring or relaxing. An everyday spray that helps prevent brittleness and breakage while protecting the hair from heat styling by increasing moisture retention.

Well, I haven’t tried it yet so I cannot attest and say anything about it at the moment. But I will review it next time, once I’ve already tested the product. I’m wondering who have used or tried this product? Or are there any other heat protectant sprays you could suggest?

Simple Look is Best

Hi guys, how are you doing? I can’t believe it’s almost March and it’s been ages since the New Year, but why do I still feel like we just started 2011?!

Normally, when it’s an ordinary/regular day, I don’t really play dress up. I’m quite simple, in fashion, hair and in makeup. I just feel like my skin needs a breather and I don’t really enjoy wearing too much anything on a daily basis. As for clothing, I usually just wear jeans or pants because I attract mosquitoes quite often. And it always sucks when I get bite marks! :( For my hair, I am blessed with straight hair and because I spend time sleeping rather than fixing my hair, I just comb it and voila, I’m out the door. And when it’s hot or humid, I just put it in a ponytail. Yeah yeah, no style at all. Haha!

And well, my husband thinks that a simple look is best. He’s conservative that way. And I have to agree most of the time. On a serious note, I know that I have flaws and all, and I am not perfect, but I know how to accentuate my assets and try and hide my flaws. I also have accepted the fact that nobody is perfect and insecurity always lingers. It’s up to the person how to deal with it.

I like looking simple because I think it shows how confident I am in my own skin. I don’t need to hide in flashy dresses, avant garde wild makeup and big messy hair. I just have to be me and people see the “real” me. Of course there are certain events and opportunities one must look the part and dress up, but on a regular day, I prefer to look normal.

Oh well that’s just me. Each person has his/her own style and I respect that. As long as one’s happy with whatever decision his/her make, that’s what matters. :)

Bright Bright Moon!!!

Here’s one of my non-related to beauty, food, fashion and spa topics that I just had to post not only to share with my readers but to also remind me next time of how amazing and unbelievable our world and life in general is.

Here’s the story, H and I were on our way home when I saw this big big big round “thing” in the sky. At first I thought it was some signage of some restaurant, but as we got closer, I realized that it was the moon. I shrieked and pointed it to my husband. When we got home, as we entered the gate, the moon was just staring at us and I knew I had to capture that moment. My husband turned the car engine off and let me take photos.

I knew the photos wouldn’t do justice but I just had to try and capture that magnificent time and how I felt that very second.

I am not a professional photographer nor do I have an SLR. I only used my Canon IXUS 120 to  take the photos above.

That was probably the first time I saw the moon so bright that it was golden in color, and saw the markings on it. It was so romantic, so beautiful, so unbelievable. I felt like the only thing missing is a wolf in the picture. Haha! I felt so alive while looking at it. I honestly just said to myself that God is truly amazing. :)

Loreal Open Eyes - Cobalt

I got a new eyeshadow palette from my mum one time I visited my old residence.

Loreal Open Eyes -  Cobalt

I immediately loved the palette because blue eyeshadows actually look pretty on me. Haha! Surprisingly they compliment my brown eyes quite nicely.

Her’s how it look inside:

The shades are gorgeous!

The palette is composed of three shades of the same family, in this case they’re blue. There’s one for highlight color as well. I like that at the back, there’s a guide/illustration. I think this helps a lot, especially for those who are just starting to do makeup.

Here are some swatches:

I’m very excited to try out this palette. I could already imagine how it would look like. Plus it can go from day to night! I also like that it already has a highlight color and the darkest shade (navy almost dark gray shade), I can use as eyeliner too!

Thanks to my mum for giving me this gorgeous palette! :)
