First Time in Bubba Gump

It’s almost February! I can’t wait for tomorrow. It’s actually bittersweet. As ShopSui’s last day in Glorietta is today (ShopSui Tiendesitas is still open.) Nevertheless, there’s also a new project close to my heart that I’m excited about. So February is starting with some noise!

Well, I will cap off my January with another food post. :) This was actually from my Christmas get together with some friends last year and just didn’t have the time to post it and as I was going through my albums, i saw it and decided it’s worth an entry in my blog for I loved the food!

So last month, my friends and I dined at Bubba Gump in Greenbelt 3 and it was actually my first time to eat there. I am allergic to shrimps and crabs and I just thought that I wouldn’t enjoy eating there because there’s not much options for me. But I was proven wrong!

Here’s me with my friends:

a Top is from HerBench.
Here are our orders:
Photos borrowed from: Vassy

Bourbon Street Mahi Mahi
Charbroiled Cajun spiced mahi mahi with bourbon sauce and shrimp

This is really delicious! I liked that they put potato strings too because it gives the dish more texture. The fish was very tender. And the sauce was a good compliment to the fish. Must order! This would have to be my favorite.

Mama's Southern Fried Chicken
Boneless breast of chicken, fresh golden corn, garlic mashed potatoes with gravy

Talk about big chicken! This fried chicken was gigantic! Haha! I specifically order for chicken because I didn’t want to it too much seafood and chicken is the safest way to go. This dish kind of reminds me of Chef de Angelos chicken. However, I like Bubba Gump’s better. I liked the taste an d the gravy paired with it. I admit I couldn’t eat a lot because of the breading. It’s quite nakaka-umay, so it’s best to share.
C Bubba's Baked Seafood and Rice
Baked seafood rice with shrimp, calamari, fish spinach in parmesan cream sauce, topped with jack & cheddar cheese

Another favorite! I swear I loved the food at Bubba Gump! Haha! The baked seafood and rice is like Jambalaya and Risotto. I loooovvveee! The creaminess, the cheese, and it’s loaded with meat (of course I was only able to eat the fish and calamari). This is really a good dish. It’s very filling because it’s really very rich. There was five of us and we were all able to eat this dish and I would say all of us loved it!

f Frozen Lemon Ups

This drink is actually my husband’s. Haha! It tasted normal, chilled and frozen lemonade. Nothing special about it. I would suggest to order the usual lemonade instead.

Overall, Bubba Gump proved that they’re more than shrimps! Their food is spectacular! I would definitely go back again. Luckily, my friends knew exactly what to order for my first time in Bubba Gump. So my first time experience is phenomenal! :)

Mojito & Misa in High Waist Hue

Before I start with my post, can anybody tell me why it’s so hard to post photos in Multiply? I don’t know if it’s just now or if Multiply is undergoing some improvements or what. But I’ve been sitting here trying to upload photos, and it’s just not working. :( Anyways, I’ll just try again.

On to my post for this lovely Sunday. I wanted to share with you one service that I tried in Cozy Nail Lounge. It’s their best selling Mojito! It’s a treatment that moisturizes the feet. I also chose a new polish to try. I’ve heard good feedback about Misa so Misa it is!

Foot Wrap

The feet is wrapped in foot moisturizer wrap. The wrap has a lotion-type of formula inside. The feet is soaked for about 15 minutes. When I asked what’s inside, Kristine, who was my therapist, said that it’s the foot moisturizer that will make the feet soft and prepare it for filing later.

Next is a foot massage, just about three to five minutes before removing the foot wrap.

Kristine files the feet. She uses something like a big nail file to do this. While filing, dry skin falls off. As you can see in the photo above, the white particles is actually my dry skin.

Kristine also says that it’s normal for the skin to still peel off even after a day or two. Mine didn’t peel off the next day, it did after two days. But it wasn’t gross or anything like that. I could just feel the dry skin peeling.
  Enjoying free WIFI at Cozy.

Kristine cleans, puts lotion to moisturize the feet even more, files and cuts the nails. The protocol of having a pedicure.

Misa in High Waist Hue

no flash

First is base coat. Cozy uses Orly. This prevents yellowish nails and makes the polish last longer. Then the polish chosen and lastly, they also put top coat. This makes the polish shinier.

After the Mojito treatment, the soles of my feet did feel softer. I like this better than just getting a foot scrub. And as I mentioned earlier, my feet peeled two days after getting a Mojito which is normal.

Kristine said that this is recommended for those who have cracked heels, very dry feet and those who usually wear open shoes or sandals. Once a month of getting a Mojito is a good maintenance to keep the soles and the feet moisturized and looking healthy! :)

Holy Cow!

Another food post! Oh how I love having a husband who enjoys food as much as I do. When we’re happy, we usually celebrate by eating out. This does no good in terms of dieting though. Haha!

We went to SM Megamall one time for a date day and chanced upon Holy Cow’s meat buffet. The buffet was only P599 and it already includes bottomless drinks. H hasn’t eaten lunch yet and I have only eaten hilaw na mangga, so we decided to try it out. FYI, Holy Cow also has a la carte menu and does not only serve buffet.

Like what I mentioned, we get free bottomless iced tea with the buffet:
Super great because I drink a lot!

Cool interiors. Very cowboy-y. Haha! The waiters were dressed to impress to!

We were first served 1 pc of tenderloin steak and 1 pc of pork chop with side veggies. You can order right away and that’s what I would recommend for the meat is cooked the time you order. So if you don’t want to wait a long time, order right away.

What I love most is the flavor of the meat. Holy Cow doesn’t compromise the taste and the quality. Every steak is cooked to perfection. I keep drooling everytime a plate is placed on our table.

We’re big steak eaters, my husband and I, so Holy Cow was like a piece of heaven. Plus the service was really good. The waiters were very attentive. The restaurant didn’t smell bad at all. Some restaurants that offer eat-all-you-can-meat already smells like meat! But Holy Cow does not. The ambiance was very laid back. The price was well worth it as we love steak.

I will definitely go back again! For sure!!!

NYX Cream Blushes

Here’s a very late post of the NYX Cream Blushes that I got last year from the Super Sale bazaar. I already swatched the blushes before but for some reason, I couldn’t find the photos in my camera nor in my hard drive. So I had to reswatch them again and it took me this long to do so. :(

IMG_0235_thumb2 Glow & Rose Petal

 Rose Petal & Glow

It’s already messy because I’ve already used it a couple of times.

IMG_0235_thumb2Rose Petal

I love Rose Petal. It’s kind of peachy and more on earthy tone. It looks very natural on the cheeks. When swiped, it looks really preally pretty. I would recommend this to anyone even for morenas. It’s a very flattering shade. I wear this when I wear neutral and natural makeup or more on the brown side.

IMG_0235_thumb2 Glow

Now, Glow, on the other hand, is more of a pink blush. When blended it’s  absorbed by the skin makes the cheeks look like they were pinched. It’s a cute blush that I use if I want more attention to my cheeks (say I’m not wearing not much makeup) or pair it with a pink lippie.

I swatched them side by side in different lighting for comparison:

Glow is on the Left & Rose Petal is on the Right

I usually use a Stippling Brush to apply the cream blush. I find this better in placing the color and blending it without removing the color. I also use a powder blush after. I would choose a powder blush close to the shade of the cream blush or if I don’t want to alter the shade of the cream blush at all, I just choose a very very light shade of powder blush.

I find that using cream blush makes the blush last longer than just powder blush. It acts as a primer and makes the powder stick to the skin better. I’m really happy with these purchases. :)

By the way, ShopSui is on its last week at Glorietta 3. So visit the store now until January 31 for fab discounts and amazing products!

DIY Lightbox & Body Shop Lippie

I’ve been out of the loop and decided to stay home today to rest, blog and do a little backwork. Coming home from my Baguio trip, I couldn’t help but feel lazy. Baguio’s weather’s just sooo nice and sooo cool. Here in Manila, even though it’s not scorching hot, is still so warm compared to Baguio.

Anyways, before I went for a mini vacation with my friends, I chanced upon Shen of Shensaddiction.com’s post about DIY-ing your own lightbox. My aunt, who’s a photographer, has told me about this before, but being a non-professional photographer that I am (I only have a point-and-shoot camera, but I love it to death), I didn’t feel the need for it. Plus the fact is I love giving my readers uneditted photos of the products I review. I just feel like it looks more real, simpler. But I know that at one point or another I have to also try and improve on my photo-taking skills. :)

So I did follow  Shen’s advice and with the help of H, here’s my new lightbox:

Plastic container- already have it at home
Lamp- borrowed from my SIL
2 Emergency Lights- also at home
White Cartolina- bought from the bookstore
Extension cord (not in photo) – also at home

I didn’t need to spend too much, the only thing I bought is the white cartolina. :) Weepee!

So to put it to the test, I took one of the products I wanted to talk about and tried to use the lightbox to take photos of it. :)
*Note: One of the emergency lights (right one) wasn’t fully charged, so the photos are still a little bit dark because the left light was brighter than the other.

 Body Shop Lipstick #49

This is my first Body Shop lipstick. And #49 is a purple-reddish shade that looks natural. It has tiny fragments of glitters that looks really nice when the light hit it or for flash photography. I also feel that purple shades looks natural and fresh for lippies and even for blushes. I wanted an everyday lipstick and since I love different shades of lipsticks, this is a perfect addition to my stash.

Plus it gives the lips that pinkish look that’s not too overpowering. I like this shade because it makes my lips look kissable and plumper without looking like I am wearing too much lipstick.

Swatch

This is the lipstick that I used throughout my Baguio trip. :) It wasn’t attention grabbing but I looked naturally made up. :)

How about you? What’s your to-go-to lippie for a no makeup makeup look?
